Teach Your Dog to Sit When You Stop

Getting your dog to automatically sit whenever you stop walking will not only make your dog look like an obedience champion, it's also an easy way to keep your dog from jumping on other people.
- Practice the automatic sit in a low distraction area ( such as in your house or backyard..)
- wait in place to the dog to sit as soon as he sit mark this and give a treat
- then walk forward a few steps and repeat
- if the dog knows the command sit you can ask the dog to sit but eventually you want to fade this out and the indication the dog needs to sit comes simply from you stopping on the walk
- make it fun for the dog by doing fast sessions of starting and stoppping treating the sit quickly then going again
- keep sessions short to keep the dog interested.
